My dear Mr. Buckley,
The peg which you reported was driven here in town  on the 11 inst., was clinched at both ends last night. I never attended such a rich old love feast of a political meeting in my life before; such keen perception, such sharp wit and practical hits, and such a spontaneous burst of enthusiasm, are remarkable. I expect that Capt. Gardner will be constrained to report, as he was wild with rapture, but when luxuries are set before you, I know you can eat the second dish.

By appointment, Capt. Gardner read his "Address of the Colored Convention to the people of Ala." last night. The school house was 3/4 filled with colored men, whom a day's notice would bring together
