Sir

Your letter advising Cain to go on with his school is at hand & that you will pay a salary of from 30 to 40$ per month &c

Cain now has 64 scholars subscribed with the understanding with the parents that you would pay from 50 to 75$ per month for a teacher.
The parents not to pay any tuition but to clothe, board, furnish books &c. The sallary you propose to pay will not procure the services of a teacher competent to the duty of taking charge of a school. If parents have to pay,I fear Cain will lose the greater part of his subscribed schollars. I am anxious Cain shall succeed, and hope it may be in your power to raise the salary. Let me hear from you again, and in the mean time I will have Cain to find out how many will pay 1/2 tuition &c.
Respectfully yours,
H. Blackman
