Dear Sir,

I have under my care a very promising lad, (a relative of mine) who desires admission into Oberlin College
You will confer a favor upon me by useing your influence to procure his admission therein, he is about 20 years of age and [[strike out]] possesses [[/strike out]] has acquired the rudiments of an English Education, is of sound mind.  Thoroughly radical a course of three years in Oberlin will make him very usefull.  Enclosed I send his Photograph for your inspection.
Aside from his being a relative of mine, I am satisfied in recommending him to your notice, I am serving my people at large.  Please answer through box 812
