Dear Sir:

I attended my regular appointment at West Point yesterday. I find a good opening for a school prospect of 100 or more scholars. I rented a house of E. Reese Esqr. at $10 per month with the expectation that you will provide for the payment of the rent, as Dr. Walden, Secy of the Freedmens Aid Society of the M.E. Church has informed me that you would. Not meeting you there nor receiving any answer to my letter of last week. I presume you are absent from Montgomery. I had to take this house as it was the only one I could find to rent & I might miss the opportunity to wait for an answer from you - so I wrote Mr. Reese that I would take it and that you would provide for the rent. The house will be too small to accommodate 100 scholars, the number I expect to open with. I presume Dr Walden will supply the teachers If he should
