My Dear Bro.
By an advertisement sent me by Bro. Silsby I hear that the tract of land & the buildings where our schools are established are to be sold by U.S. Marshall on the 18th of Feb. We ought to establish a permanent school of high order at Selma. The Bureau will probably assist in building a school house if we can get the land. The terms of sale are cash I see and it strikes me that property for cash must sell low. Have you known enough of public sales to be able to judge what a good half acre lot will bring? Can I arrange it so that you can draw on Cin or N.B. for Bro. Silbsy's use should a purchase be made? We shall probably authorize Bro. Silsby to bid on a lot with a limit. We have so much on our hands that we are compelled to invest cautiously.

Very Truly Your Friend,
E.M. Cravath.
