General
I have the honor to enclose herewith a letter from the Rev. Mr Lakin, a man who has given his undevoted attention to Freedmen and Freedmen's Schools.

The Freedmen have purchased a lot and are completing a building for church and school purposes. They call for aid. May I ask that you examine the communication, and if the Bureau can furnish the means asked for, or any less amount, I should esteem it as an especial favor, for Mr Buckley to forward the vouchers approved, to me for my signature, I will then estimate for the amount and send in the vouchers at the proper time. I regard the expenditure absolutely necessary for the interest of the school, and would be more than pleased to see it made.

I have the honor to be General
Very respectfully Your obdt sevt.
