mally fill the call in your letter of the 7th. It is now so late in the season that that teachers are reluctant to go so far south. Unless you can give assurance that the localities where teachers are required are healthful in the summer it will be impossible to secure them.
 
I agree with you as to the work to be done for next year. We can assume the work at the leading points indicated and with the help of Gen. Swayne secure good school buildings and establish first class schools next Oct. From these points the work can be pushed in every direction as vigorously as the means at command will justify.
