Rev E. P. Smith of the Am Miss. Assoc., informs me that the Freedmen schools are in want of a History of the U.S. and at his request we send to you by mail, postage prepaid, a set of Andersons Schools [[?]] (which we believe admirably adapted for the wants of the Freedmen)for your examination. These books are largely used throughout the North - Almost exclusively in New York City - Exclusively in Brooklyn - New Haven Conn - Springfield Mass - Louisville Ky - and many other cities and towns through the Northern States.
We should be glad to have you give them a rigid examination, as we feel confident that they will meet with your approval - If they do meet with your approval and
