In great haste

Mobile, Ala.
May 4th. 1867.

Dear Buckley:

Please see if any letters or papers have come to the P.O. or to care of Gen. Swaine or yourself for me, and if so be kind enough to forward them to me at New Orleans. Care of C. A. Weed & Co.
The convention did good. His chief would have been done by the creation of a "Colored men's party" if I had not been here. Now as you will see by the Register and Advertiser of yesterday, the col'd men proclaim themselves part of the National Rep. party.
Your will be inexcusable if Gen. Swaine is not sent to the Senate. No other man in Alabama is fit to go.
