Maj Genl W. Swayne

Dr Genl.
I am here yet, trying to get house for the freedman. The house they are in, is entirely too small, and the price Mr B is paying per year is more than the building is worth. Yet nothing better could be done. Please read the enclosed to Mr Buckly which will show you the state of the case. Then Genl please endorse the letter to Mr B if you can, and thus we can do a great work here. The amount we ask for is not large. Mr Eberheart of Georgia has just written us we shall have 12 hundred dollars for La Grange. I had 15 hundred hearin yesterday, and we announced you for next Saturday. But my paper is out
