Sir,
Several of the most prominent colored men of this city have requested me to appeal to you in their behalf for aid in the erection of a school house for colored children. The "African M.E. Church" of Eufaula have contracted for the Presbyterian church building, at a cost of $2000.00. It is a substantial, commodious house, situated on a beautiful lot of half an acre, inclosed by a good fence.
The Trustee of the "A.M.E. Church" are willing to donate the lot for School purposes; and the colored School com. think that, with $1000.00, they can erect a comfortable School house, and dwelling for a teacher. They design the School for the benefit of all the colored children of the city, irrespective of denominations. The white citizens have subscribed pretty liberally, and are encouraging their enterprise.
