difficulties very many of their complaints being immaginary get attended with more or less trouble to me - in a word they have looked to me since their freedom as one who was their friend and would do justice by them - & would come to me with their many complaints - still come I think I have been of benefit to them and should receive pay for my service and am satisfied if Gen Swayne knew the fact, he would readily make an order to that effect - hence I would be glad for you to do something for me by giving the Gen. the facts in my case.
