Dr. Sir

In a late letter you sent to Mr. Arms you asked him if he could spare me to be sent to some other point. Mr. Arms and I have talked the matter over, and tho' I have a room full of scholars, I think my place could be filled by Miss Benton, the very efficient teacher you sent here.

Now if you have any good point at which you desire to establish schools I will go on this condition: viz: that you increase my salary to the amount you allow Mr. Arms.

If you still have no school at Claiborne perhaps that would be a good point. I would not teach plantation schools.
Very Respectfully
Jno. A. Hart.
