Dear Sir
Yours of the 10th inst. in reply to a letter I sent you inquiring for a school, was rec'd on Tuesday last, and allow me to thank you for the kindness contained therein.
I do not know, Mr. Buckley, what clerks are receiving at Montgomery, tho' at the same salary I think I would prefer remaining in your service as teacher, if I could get some favorable location.
You will probably wish, after the Summer vacation, to establish schools for the coming year at other points; if then, or before then, you can send me to some good point with the advance I asked for, I will endeavor to teach a good school for you. 
While I am conscious of the necessity of teaching the Colored people, I will frankly say that I have a profession to accomplish, and a sense of duty to myself dictates that I
