Fayetteville, May 8th 1867. McLean James H. acknowledges receipt of letter. Feels a deep interest in school matters says Mr. Perkins has reformed and will make a good teacher. Thinks the community is waking up as to the importance of educating the blacks. Says he will co-operate in the laudable work of educating the African race. Talks very nicely and will probably do very well to teach.
