Sir:

In reply to yours of the 17th inst I have the honor to inform you that I have had an interview with Judge Henderson in reference to the sole title &c of the Baptist College. The judge informs me that the trustees all live in and near this place, that they are willing to give a private deed or have the title effected by Sheriff sale or both ways to suit the purchaser. In case it is sold by Sheriffs sale the law requires that 30 days notice be given by publication in a newspaper. This notice will be given in this weeks issue of the Alabama Reporter, which will enable it to be sold in 30 days, but as the building requires much repair and in view of preventing any unnecessary delay in opening school, would it not be as well to send or come at once, obtain a private deed of the trustees and the assurance to make the same good and at the expiration of 30 days, they can furnish a deed made by sale of the property by the Sheriff and in the mean time the house can be repaired and fitted in due time to open school with the approaching fall weather.
