Do you happen to know anything of a Dr. Reeves who was up this way collecting money for the destitute & starving people of seven counties in So. Alabama, including Montgomery. He had a printed paper with printed names &c & professed to be endorsed by Gov. Patton, & others in the Legislature? There was something queer about him, & he did not make a favorable impression in Pitts. If you know anything about him I should like to know it. Is there much that looks like intense suffering & starvation in your section besides what the Bureau is meeting. Reports seem to be contradictory.
