Waring, of Florence. Miss Zell & Mr. McCullough I presume will also come North - but tho' they are also under Mitchells superintendence they are paid by the Philad. Ass'n. & not by ours.

Much obliged for your information about the suffering. The papers are full of contradictory reports. Considerable sums have been raised here for the relief of the suffering, mainly under Democratic auspices & this has been sent, so it is said to a Com. at Louisville say $5000.

Some $1800. or $1900. was sent thro' me & I thought it better & so did the donors to send it to Mitchell. If you happen to know of some specially needy cases or neighborhoods - possibly it may be well for you to write to him, stating particulars [] - It may not all be gone yet. From what you say I have no doubt things have been exaggerated & yet in some places I suppose there must be suffering. Gen Howard & others are quoted. Yours Jos. S. Travelli []
