Maj. Gen. W. Swayne:

Dear Sir,
I hope this is not a matter of supererogation, after your decline to aid.

I have been unfortunate in linking two things together in my appeal.  I asked aid for our mission simply because the Colored people were of the impression that Zion Church, of another denomination, was built by the Bureau. they were no doubt mistaken.

The School is altogether a separate thing from the church.  It is not "auxiliary  to the formation of a Presbyterian Church",
