[[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES [[/stamp]] Dear Sir
I had an interview with Mr John C. Reffs as he passed through our village a few days scince in refrence to teachers of schools whre the children of Freedmen had been attending, he referred me to you.
My Wife has been teaching a School for the children of freedmen scince the 8th of July, the parents of some of the children are unable to pay for their tuition and I thinking it probable that the Freedmen's Bureau had (or would) make some provision for the payment thereof, and being informed that you were the Superintendent of education for the State I have taken the liberty of trespassing upon your time & patience with this epistle. I would [[strikethrough]]by[[/strikethrough]] be glad to know if any provision has been made, and if she can get any pay for her services? and if so to where application should be made? hoping that this may receive your earliest convenient attention. I am Respectfully
Your Obedient Svt
