I received a letter from Mr. J. Kennedy of Chambers Ala. a few days ago, saying that he had engaged lumber for the floor of the Colored Academy and could go on with the work as soon as money was received to pay the bills.
I supposed your intention was to put the building in repair ready for the school by the 1st of Oct. and perhaps you have already set Mr. Muguley at work.
I should endeavor to raise a small amount here to help the work.
I hope to hear soon that the school has recommenced, for I think there is an unusual need of [[strikethrough]] on [[/strikethrough]] a school in Lafayette, and certainly the colored people deserve a good school
