I believe that the larger share of our teaches may be made Christian teachers & may lead many very many of their older pupils to Jesus through the quiet but multiplied & powerful influences centering in the true teacher.

I have asked a few of the citizens of Talladega to unite in an independant church to look after these young people & labor for their salvation.

This church has no authority in the school matters or over the building.

The A. M. A. allows them to worship in the building & hopes that they will continue to labor for the spiritual education of these young teachers with such success as has already attended their feeble labors in this direction, but leaves the students, with the advice of their parents, to select their regular place of worship.

Permit this explanation of my ideas and regard me a humble laborer under the direction of the A.M.A. but possessing no authority in this matter. H.E. Brown.
