Quartermaster General's Office,
Washington, D.C., Mar 28th 1868

My dear Doctor:
Your note was received and sometime during the coming week I will visit the State Dept and send you a Catalogue of Diplomatic & Consular Appointments. The State Dept. you will remember is the most inconvenient of access of any of the Dept being located in an extreme part of the city. I will certainly send it.
I desire to procure a place as a teacher for a Mrs. M.M. Buxton of Medfield Mass. This lady is most highly recommend by two of my lady friends & both of them Scotch
