Selma Ala Feb 3rd 1868 C.W. Buckley Esq [[stamp]] The National Archives of the United States [[/stamp]] Dr Sir Residing in a neighborhood where there are a great many "Freedmen" who are anxious I should take charge of a school. Forty schollars can verry easily be obtained, there being, no schools nearer than Selma (about 9 miles). I have consented to do all I can for them, with proper assistance. Learning from "Mr John Hardy", you are the proper one to apply to. I acknowledge myself competent to instruct them in the most useful English branches of Education. For instance, Spelling, Reading, writing Arithmetic, Geography, & Grammer. For further knowledge of myself I refer you to "Mr John Hardy," whose acquaintance with me has been for years. Verry Respectfully &c James A Gibson N.B. Address me at Selma
