Sir:
I have the honor to respectfully call your attention to an account for $50 for services rendered as teacher at Calhoun Lowndes Co. Ala., for the month of August 1867, the justness of which, has been admitted, and ordered to be paid. I presume it is now on file in the proper office.

Pecuniary want alone, induces me to ask your aid. I have labored faithfully for the past twelve months in teaching the poor colored children, hoping that some kind hand would be stretched forth to assist, but Alas! Alas!! the year closes and I am left pennyless and friendless. The day I commenced teaching the Freedmen has been a bitter one for me

I am, Sir Very Respectfully
Your Obt Servant
E.S. Grover

P.S. Please send three Daily School Registers, one for myself and two for two other teachers.
Address E.S. Grover
