My dear sir, I send you, enclosed, a part of the "Eutaw Whig & Observer" containing an advertisement of the Sale of a Church building, 2 miles from Eutaw, to come off in this place on Monday 2nd Feby. for cash. That building is well fitted for the purpose of a school room for the freedmen of this town, if it can be bought and brought here and put upon an eligible lot. The colored people of this place cannot now command the cash necessary to buy it with, and they urge me to write you to help them. Will not the Bureau contribute 300 dols or at least loan the the freedmen as much until they are able to return it?

You see that the terms are cash. It probably will go low. Please give me a reply by return mail.

Sincerely & Fraternally yours
J.B.F. Hill
