Sir:
I am requested by Mrs S.S. Dupree who has recently opened a Freedmen's school at this place, to ascertain whether or not she could purchase supplies from the Bureau; and if so, the prices of the following articles, to wit, Bacon, Flour, Coffee, sugar, Syrup, salt, candles and soap.

Mrs D. is a very estimable Lady, is left in needy circumstances with several little children to support by her own labor, and is now engaged in the praiseworthy undertaking of teaching the children of the poor Freedpeople and risking them for pray, a thing which but few seem willing to do. If the Bureau could do anything for Mrs D. besides selling her rations at good price, I feel confident that such bounty could not be bestowed upon one more
