Sir
Some three weeks since I recd from you a communication, propoinding to me certain interogations I delayed answering until I could make some enquires, and after obtainig, all the information I could, I now submit the following -

There are no Schools located, of any order in this county for freedmen, During the pleasant seasons of the year there are generally Sabbath Schools for Freedmen - but in the Winter they are discontinued for want of suitable houses.

There are no School Houses for Freedmen in this County During the months of July August & September a Day School at Lineville & Delta would be of advantage. I have talked with the most intelligent Colored men. Some think [[strikethrough]] could [[/strikethrough]] a School could be raised to commence soon, while others thinks July will be soon enough to begin - about 25 or 30 pupils would attend at each place - perhaps 40 would attend at Lineville

The Freedmen are very poor - and could not, and do their families Justice - pay anything on their tuition

There would be no obsticle offered to the education of Freedmen in this County
