This Agreement entered into this first day of February 1867 between James W. Riley of the City and County of Talladega of the first part, and Wager Swayne Major General U.S.V. and Assistant Commissioner, Bureau, Refugees, Freedman, and Abandoned Lands, On behalf of the United States of America of the Second part.

Witnesseth

That for, and in consideration of the sum of sixty two dollars and fifty cents, to be paid quarterly by the party of the second part, his successor or agent. The party of the first part, leases and rents to the party of the second part his succesor, or agents, the place known as the "Bailey Place" being the South West Quarter, and S.E. 1/4 Section Two, Town Nineteen, Range five East, less ten acres, Known as "Willhmans Vineyard," and one acre, as the family burial place-) Containing One hundred and Eighty nine acres, with all the priveleges, and appurtances thereto belonging, to have, hold and use the same for the benifit of the United States of America for the period of One, two, or three years, as they may elect.

The party of the second part, his successors or agent, may use any and all materials on the place, in the erection of buildings, and may make such alterations and repairs on the building now on the place, as may be necessary, to fit them for a Hospital, and Home for Freedmen.

At the the termination of this lease, or other time, the party of the second part, his successors or agents, may remove or otherwise dispose of all buildings erected by them at the expense of the United
