I have the honor to submit the following answers to the question propounded in the Circular from the Office of Superintendent of Education, Bur &c for Alabama dated June 25, 1868.

1. - Seven
2. - Seven. - Athens, Summerfield, Burnsville and Marion Junction in Dallas, Co. - Uniontown and Hamburg in Perry Co. - Camden in Wilcox Co.
3. - As near as can be ascertained from last census about 12000.
4. - Same as in No. 2.-
5. - Twenty
6. - When schoolhouses are furnished free of rent from $20. to $50. according to number of pupils.
7. - They can be safely employed at the places enumerated in answer No. 2, but could not be supported by tuition fees alone.  Athens 150.- Summerfield 50.- Burnsville 75.- Marion Junction 50.- Uniontown 250.- Hamburg 120.- Camden 150.-
8. The Am. Miss. Association pay salaries to the following named teachers:  Prof. J.H. Sears and Miss. E.C. Stowe
