Our colored students do not learn some things as readily as most whites; but I have yet to find the equal of some of them, in learning the art of teaching.
Through the influence of our canvasing agent, the people of the adjacent counties are beginning to send in from each "beat" one of their best young people to study here awhile, & then return home to teach the children of those that helped send them. In this way we get the best, & most intelligent colored young people in the land, & we hope, through them to begin to elevate the children of a hundred neighborhoods with a year & a half.
In our S.S. teachers meeting, & our young people's prayer meeting, of which I would gladly speak at length, we hope to help make these young teachers intelligent, & earnest soul-teachers.
Permit me to add that, as we love this work, & as the people prize this opportunity of education, so we all feel thankful for the kind, & timely aid furnished us by our government.

Yours truly
