PART IV STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES

The Artists Television Network, Inc is directored towards the development of television as a medium for art and artists, and toward bringing a broad range of contemporary arts programming to the television audience on a regular basis. Through SoHo Television, a Project of ATN, regular weekly telecasts originated by visual and performing artists are prepared for cablecasting in the New York Area. Through its syndication project, artists' programs are distributed to and gathered from other areas of the country.

ATN's overall program includes several aspects:

(1) The regular, weekly exhibition on Manhattan Cable Television and Teleprompter Cable TV of programs produced by video artists, including programs of performance, theater, dance and simulcast music, as well as video art, interviews and panel/lecture/discussions videotaped for television. To do this, the program is rented from the artist and all labor and expenses connected with its presentation are defrayed by ATN.

(2) ATN facilitates the production of specific new arts programs for television. Under this program, ATN pays not only the artists but the costs of making the program as well as the costs of presentation. To do this, ATN makes arrangement for the use of low-cost or no-cost production and post-production facilities throughout New York State and proivdes the personnel required to assist the artist to realize the production.

(3) ATN syndicates all programs produced by itself and for other exhibited programs for which television syndication rights are available. This project involves publishing and distributing a catalog, renting the programs and returning half the income to the artist.
