SOHO TELEVISION COMPLETES SECOND SEASON

SoHo Television, a project of the Artists Television Network, completes its second season with three programs. The first, Monday February 12th at 8 PM, is "La Vie Boheme" by ROBERT WIEGAND. The program is an orthographic projection of the art world presenting it from several vantages. Corinne Robins, an Associate Editor of [[underline]] Arts Magazine [[underline]] speaks for the art critic. The artist's point of view is given by noted collector, artists' advocate, and arts administrator Doris Freedman. And the dealer's position is expressed by the prominent owner of the O.K. Harris Gallery, Ivan Karp. You may ask, what about the artist? Throughout this expedition the artist, Bob Wiegand, does what he does best - paints.
The second program, Monday February 19th, "Art, Video, Performance I" is an anthology of short works by CHRISTA MAIWALD and SUSAN RUSSELL. The first part is composed of excerpts from Maiwald's "Rabbit Ears," a series of pieces dealing with the switch from childhood to adulthood - "that point at which some event from the outside world intrudes on the innocence and trust of a child's world, and the shift to adulthood begins." Susan Russell's work is represented by "Daydream," which mixes the visual/verbal reverie that reaches coalescence when the stories ultimately meet.
Susy-Q" is a portrait of the artist as a 1950's Hollywood starlet musing on art, sex and death.
On February 26th viewers will see "Performances from the Franklin Furnace - Spring 1978" by JACKI APPLE and DARA BIRNBAUM. The Franklin Furnace, located at 112 Franklin Street is an exhibition space for one-on-a-kind books as well as a performance space. This program features Matt Mullican, Mimi smith, and Guy De Cointet who base their performances upon their graphic work. Matt Mullican gives an improvisational monologue from an installation of his visual work involving a personal, symbolic visual language system. In a simulated setting, Mimi Smith reads from her drawings which are taken from television news broadcasts. And Los Angeles artist Guy De Cointet directs Mary Ann Duganne and Jane Zingale in a series of skits which are dramatizations of texts from his books.
The SoHo Television series is cablecast by Manhattan Cable Television and Teleprompter Cable Television Monday evenings at 8 PM on Channel 10. This project is support by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. For further information and press material contact Leandra Strobing, 212 254-4978.
