Guggenheim grant narrative account

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I studied fine arts in my native country and in Uruguay. In the late sixties I moved to New York. I studied at the School of Visual Arts. On the early seventies I was involved with EAT(Experiments in Art and Technology). I participated in several group shows. In 1972 I exhibit my first video installation at the Akron Art Institute. In 1973 I participated in the Whitney biennial of American Art. In 1974 my videos were shown at the "Open Circuit" show at the Museum Of Modern Art New York. In 1975 I received my first CAPS grant in video from NYSCA. The same year I presented my videos at the "New American Filmakers Series" at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 1976 I shown among other places, at Anthology Film Archives in New York, The Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina, The Kitchen, New York. In 1978 I received my first NEA grant for video. The same year I started The Live! Show a weekly television show in Manhattan Cable Channel 10. This show was aired every Monday at 11pm, it lasted until 1983. Also in 1978I participated in the First Encounter of Video at the Center in Barcelona, Spain. In 1981 I produced new video works at The Long Beach Museum of Art in California, I exhibited at the New Musuem, New York, Musuem of Fine Arts, Denmark, Chicago Edting [[red pen mark up]] Center, Chicago, Illinois. In 1982 I received my second CAPS fellowship in video from NYSCA. This year I showed at the American Center in Paris. In 1983 I was invited to participate in at the Sao Paolo Biennial. In 1984 I received my second NEA fellowship in video. That year I showed at 1 era Biennial  Havana, Cuba The Gallery of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, Ohio. In 1986 I showed art at Exit Art, New York, The Queens Museum, New York. In 1988 I had a one man show at Diane Brown Gallery, New York. In 1990 I had a retrospective of my television work at the American Museum of the Moving Image, Quuens, New York. In 1990 I received my 3rd NEA fellowship. In 1991 I had a one man show at Exit Art, New York. In 1992 I had a one man show at Foundation Patricios in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1995 I participated on the show "Reaffirming Spirituality" at The Museo del Barrio, New York. In 1998 I showed at the "Sala Perspectivas" of the Museo de Arte Moderno, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1999 I premiered the "video painting project" at Lehman College Art Gallery, New York. In 2000 I was awarded an artist in residence at the World Trade Center, under the auspices of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. In 2004 I participated in the show "Imaging the River" at the Hudson River Museum, New York. In 2005 the Fales Collection of New York university purchased my archives consisting of videotapes, photos and documents. The works are under the name"The Davidovich Collection" and it is going to be available for viewing to the scholars, students and the general public.
