For example, Howard Klein, the man holding the video purse strings at the Rockefeller Foundation and perhaps the single most important figure in the field, has roundly condemned public access for its poor production quality and absence of commercial zest.
Davidovich takes him to task on that subject, demanding to know why Klein insists on judging video commercial standards normally applied to, say, "The Beverly Hillbillies." Instead, he wonders why we can't judge art on its content. That is perhaps Davidovich's most revolutionary assertion.
But if anything is to bring the audience television land, and video artists together as far as Davidovich is concerned, the artist has to take the first step. 
"We are in a situation where video art is at a dead end. We have to face the reality that artists who work in the field have to work in the context of television. They have to realize they are in the context of Johnny Carson, Laverne and Shirley and Kojak, and not in the context of Picasso, Miro, and Van Gogh. The question is whether the artist is willing to take on that challenge."
