demonstrates his Texas origin by painting a subject which is a cliché in Texas painting. Here Casas confesses his true identity (a Texas category in which the dominant figures are the Onderdonks). Humanscape 72 is also scientifically oriented in the analysis of part of the anatomy of the White Dog. However, this scientific deviation occurs only in one other painting, Humanscape 71, entitled "Apocalypse 2001" (not shown).

Casas employs visual and often literal symbolism also in his Humanscape series to convey his ideas and opinions. These ideas and opinions include not only the effect which television and the cinema have upon modern man but also the preoccupations of the American public (sex, money, violence, etc.). Perhaps these preoccupations are only imposed on the American public by the media. Also, Casas is extremely concerned with the position of the Mexican-American in American society. By making the American public aware of his ideas and opinions through painting, Casas hopes to bring about some type of reform, especially in the treatment of Mexican-Americans.
