Congratulations!  On behalf of the Commission on the Arts and Humanities, we are pleased to announce that you have been chosen as a Finalist for the Mayor's Arts Award in the category of Excellence in an Artistic Discipline.

You were selected by a jury of respected Washington arts professionals from among the finest artists, art organizations, and arts patrons in Washington.  As a Finalist, you represent the very best in creative, innovative, and technical artistic talent.  The Commission on the Arts congratulates you in this great accomplishment.

The Arts Awards are the highest honors given by the District of Columbia in the arts.  The Mayor's Arts Award Ceremony is an annual recognition and tribute to the vital role of the arts in the our community.  The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Duke Ellington School for the Arts on Monday, September 25, 1989.  Honors will be bestowed in three categories: Excellence in an Artistic Discipline, Excellence in Service to the Arts, and Outstanding Emerging Artist.

You will receive an invitation to the ceremony in the coming weeks as well as additional instructions for that evening.  We look forward to seeing you at this very special celebration and wish you the best of luck.  Again, congratulation.
