Dear Naul Ojeda:

At last year's Brandywine arts festival, I purchased your print: Another place, another time. It is a truly fine work and it is much enjoyed at our house.

I am the editor of a poetry quarterly; a copy of which is enclosed. As you can see, I use drawings which are good enough to carry their own weight without being only illustrations for certain poems. En Passant would be pleased to have you represented in a future issue with one or more drawings or woodcuts, silkscreens, etc. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to pay anyone for the work they contribute. In fact, until now I have had to susidize the magazine myself. I recently learned that I have been given a grant. However, I haven't actually seen any money yet. If at all possible, I will try to see you at this year's festival, but if that proves impossible please understand that I am still interested in having you represented in En Passant. If you do decide that you would like to contribute something that you have already done and that you think will reproduce well in a photographic-lithographic printing process...what I will do is send you several copies of the issue in which your work appears. We have a print run of 500 copies.

Sincerely, Jim Costello
