HISTORY

The Educational Organization For United Latin Americans (EOFULA) was founded by Carlos Rosario and other community leaders to assist the Hispanic community of Washington, D.C. in overcoming cultural, economic, social and language barriers. For 23 years EOFULA has been providing social services.

In 1974, EOFULA established a center for the elderly, however, membership is not restricted to Hispanics. Any District of Columbia resident age 60 and above may participate and services are free of charge.

SERVICES

The Spanish Senior Center provides services to over 300 members annually, with an average daily attendance of 80. Services provided include:

• daily nutritious lunch
• transportation
• educational lectures
• case management, counseling and crisis intervention
• housing and employment assistance
• English classes
• recreational activities including arts and crafts, shopping and field trips
• telephone reassurance
• escorting to needed services
• Spanish/English translation and interpretation

The Spanish Senior Center is part of the Senior Network supported by the D.C. Office on Aging and a member agency of the United Black Fund.

The OAS prohibits financial transactions on its premises, therefore successful bidders will be asked to sign promissory notes.
