THE ARTIST AS PRINTMAKER

The Theme of the exhibition is printmakers who are intimately involved with the process or craft of printmaking. The Japanese have a term for this" "Ji Niri" or the artist who does his/her own printing. The exhibit will include a wide range of print media; intaglio, planographic, and relief processes. Text panels and tools of the printer will be displayed in conjunction with the works of art. 

Artists included in the exhibit are:
Mansoor Hassan (monoprints)
Zeki Findikoglu (silkscreens)
Naul Ojeda (wood cuts)
A. Ockler (silkscreens)
Scip Barnhart (lithographs)
Georgia Deal (etchings)
Penelope Barringer (lithographs)

On Saturday, June 20, Zeki Findikoglu, a Virginia resident, will provide an afternoon slide presentation and a brief demonstration of the silk screen process, including preparation of the frame, from the stretching of the silk to the blocking out image area; registration and stencil techniques will also be shown.
