a wild goose chase.  I suppose after I have bought everything I will find just the thing we want, cheap.  I have not bought much yet on account of these different things which have taken me "off the track" - but as the place is not ready it doesn't matter.  I am sure I shall not be able to buy any rugs or any other luxury as the odds and ends for kitchen and dining room and all the necessities mount up beyond what I should spend.  I don't know exactly what arrangements you made with the girl who was coming work, but I think it would be better to put her off for a while as we are not going to be ready for her for some time.  Are we obliged to take her?  It is going to cost so much to buy the bed, bedding, furniture, etc, it might be much cheaper to have some one come in by the day.  Won't you write to
