Friday - Sept. 21st

I was so sorry not to finish my note to you yesterday, but when Bonny came up and told me that we could have the outside room, I thought I must go down at once. Bonny says you did not see the outside rooms near ours. I wish you had for then you would know how very nice we are - there is much more room and we each have a lower berth without any berth above - it makes the air so much better, then we have twice as much room to put our clothes and beside two wash stands we have a commode with drawers where I keep all my little things, the mirrors tip forward so I can see perfectly well, so altogether we could not be more comfortable -

we really do not need the port-hole as the air in our room is perfect and we have electric light all the time - but it is nice any way. Wasn't it swell of Mr. Janice to write us or rather to come down to the boat to see us? I wonder how you and Bonny could have missed him. When we went into dinner last night the purser met us and said that the captain wished us at his table - we were much surprised and of course delighted the captain is very pleasant but says he does not speak english, but I think he does - we sit at a small table and beside the captain there is a lady and her son - a young man 21 years old who Bonny has taken quite a fancy to. They are off smoking together now - he speaks English a little and I am going to try to help him with his English - he will help me with my French - I don't know
