Mamma dearest - 

Bonny found a nice letter from you this morning, you are having a gay time indeed, swimming around with the Kings and going to the Catholic Church - but you don't say anything about going to the theatre - Now! if you do not go once a week at least, I shall never forgive you - funny you do not hear from Fanny. Do get to the city and go about, don't stay stuck at home all the time. I expect you are just cleaning the house till it will shine all over. My! when I think of anything clean it makes me homesick - everything is dirty in Paris this year the city is more and more crowded every day it is really terrible it is "bedlam broke loose" as Grandma would say. Today we did not go to the Expo. I tried to clean things up a little I washed my hair, which by the way was never so dirty before - and got our clothes in order - there are so many people in the Hotel that we have to fight for any attention - it is the same every where, the streets are packed and in order to get anything to eat we have to start an hour before the time.
