July 24 (1914?)

Mamma dearest,

I hope you received the cable I sent you saying we had arrived safely. We really had a wonderful trip and here we are back in Paris. We could not get a room at the hotel de Florence so we had to go to next door for the first night and yesterday we had to look for another place. Paris is terribly crowded so we're very fortunate in having found a lovely room in a very nice hotel right in the center of the city. This morning I had my breakfast in bed and I have just gotten dressed (in my new blue pleated dress) and it is twelve o'clock. Yesterday I took a bath and unpacked and now we are ready to do whatever we have to do in Paris and to enjoy ourselves a little. The shop windows are filled with interesting things and I shall have to shut my eyes as I pass them [[strikethrough]] I [[/strikethrough]].
