of the owners has given Bonney [[Bonny]] notice to get out by next spring and that spoils the place for us, so I guess the end will be that we will give it all up. I will save whatever I can to bring home. We have also given up the idea of getting even the little studio we thought of taking in Paris. I will look over the things there and bring home anything worthwhile and sell or store the rest. Everything is certainly very different since the war. I did not notice it at first but I realize it more each day. Things are not kept up as they used to be. The people seem to be falling back. Certainly there does not seem to be any progress and France seems to have lost its smile. I wonder whether it will ever come back. Of course for us with American dollars it is easy to get along and it is absurdly cheap,
