Eero loved to draw and did so with lightning speed. He could draw in two directions at the same time, of course, with both hands. I don't know where he got his knowledge of history, but it flowed from his pens with great detail. He explained architectural and historical reasons for the development of design throughout the ages with the drawings and details emerging as he spoke in the summer of 1935 at Hvitrask in Finland.

The letters from 1936 were from the period he spent in Helsingfors working for Jalle Eklund, an architect and close friend of the family. He enjoyed drawing them, and it probably helped to pass the long dark nights of the northern hemisphere.
