Gentlemen:

Thank you for informing us of the sale of the Gene Davis painting, "Black-Gray Beat", which is currently in our exhibition, "The Responsive Eye".

We understand that the picture was sold to Mr. Vincent Melzac for $2,500. As is specified on the loan agreement regarding this work, the selling price is understood to include a 10% handling charge for the Museum of Modern Art, and we are accordingly enclosing herewith our bill in the amount of $250.
