PRESS RELEASE

Parish Gallery is designed to show the viewing public the many disciplines of visual arts and their related concepts.

Works primarily by contemporary African American artists range in mediums including acrylic, oil, wood, bronze, marble sculpture, pottery, glass, photography, works on paper and installations. All skill levels are unique in individuality.

The gallery targets works of art for the beginning collector through the experienced art buyer.

The current exhibition entitled "A Visual Artistic Interpretation of the Music of Lou Rawls". Featured opening reception for the artists in Tuesday, September 24, 1991 from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM. The artists are: Aubra Ford, Sculpture; Wadsworth A. Jarrell, Acrylics; Roy Lewis, Photography; Maggie Pratt, Installations; Dikki Van Helsland, Batik; Patience Nelson-Cole, Acrylics; and Norman Parish, Oils. The show will run through October 18, 1991.

A panel discussion by the participating artists on there interpretation of their works will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 1991 between 5:30 and 6:00 PM.

The owner, Norman Parrish, is an oil painter and has been involved in art for over 30 years. This year's exhibits will feature many Chicago artists whom Parish has been associated with in the past.

Future shows will include such artists as Wendell Poindexter, Oils; Maggie Pratt, Installations; Dean Karadimos, Pottery; Steve Clay, Acrylics; Jose Williams, Mixed Media; Lana Dragon, Pottery; Roy Lewis, Photography; Fred Anderson, Acrylics; Sylvestor Britton, Acrylics/Serigraphs; Willie Carter, Oils; Mary Daniels, Works on Paper; Marva Jolly, Ceramist; Phillip London, Photography; Jill Parker, Quilting/Sculpture; John Payne, Sculpture; Felicia Grant Preston, Printmaker; Ramon Price, Acrylics/Water Colors; Leon Savage, Oils; and Clarence Tolbert, Textile Designs.
