"A Life At The Movies"
The Lillian and Albert Small Jewish Museum, 701 Third Street, N.W., will have on exhibit "A Life at the Movies" September 22 through Spring 1992. Nat'l Archives Announces Winter Hours
The National Archives' Exhibition Hall, Constitution Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, N.W., is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week through March 31. On permanent display in the rotunda of the Exhibition Hall are the original, signed Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the 1927 version of the Magna Carta. High School Design Winners Announce
The winners of the 2nd Annual High School Design Competition, sponsored by Case Design/Remodeling, Inc., were announced recently. First place winner was a joint entry by James Melzer and Mavyn McAuliffe, both seniors at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School; second place went to Omar Teitelbaum, a junior at B-CC; and an honorable mention was awarded to Heather Byer, a student at Walt Whitman High School. NGA Acquired 17th-C Still Life
The National Gallery of Art recently required Banquet Piece with Mince Pie, 1635, by William Claesz Heda, one of the foremost still-life painters of the seventeenth century. The painting is on display in the West Building in Gallery 47. (202) 842-6353.

Mesmerizing Murals That Fool The Eye
MayCenters, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri, owner of Montgomery Mall, has announced the start of a trompe l'oiel painting on the view in the Food Court for Montgomery Mall customers. Local artists have been painting a "true to life" wall mural depicting a Maryland country landscape. The term "trompe l'oiel" is french for 'fool the eye' and is a realist style of painting. This unique art form involves the use of extremely accurate values of darker colors to lighter colors in order to achieve a sense of depth and the illusion of reality. The local artists are Bill Cochran, Phil Snyder and Keith Weaver from The Signworks of Frederick, Maryland. In September, Signworks will begin another large trompe l'oiel landscape at the entrance to Montgomery Mall between Sears and Burger King. (301) 469-6000.

"Hidden Dimensions"
A group of black and white photographs — all of insects — will be among a photographic exhibit by Dr. Thomas Eisner and his wife, Maria Eisner, from September 25 - January 3 at the National Academy of Sciences, 2101 Constitution Avenue, N.W. Arts Commission Appoints
The D.C. Commission on the Arts is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Ms. Pamela G. Holt to the position of Executive Director and the Mayor's Advisor for Cultural Affairs. The D.C. Commission on the Arts, the "official arts agency of the District of Columbia," currently has a budget of $3.5 million dollars. (202) 724-5613.
