The members of the Black Academy of Arts and Letters Book Committee, who are: Margaret Walker Alexander, Imamu Amiri Baraka (LeRoi Jones), Arna Bontemps, John Henrik Clarke, Ernest Dunbar, Alex Haley, Chester Himes, John Killens, Paule Marshall, Saunders Redding, Chuck Stone, Charles Wesley and John A. Williams, have already committee themselves to writing the manual, which is expected to be in manuscript form within eighteen months.
